You should change your engine oil regular as part of your car service and on occasion throughout the year depending on how many miles are driven top ups may be required. Find some helpful information below to help you pick the best oil protection possible for your own engine.
Semi Or Fully Synthetic?
Mineral Oils don’t protect your engine better than fully synthetic oil because they are designed and manufactured in such a way that they protect the engine across a wider range of temperatures and beyond the engines own capable maximum temperature. This is because the impurities found in standard mineral oil are not present, it doesn’t degrade as fast, it is thinner and this all helps fuel efficiency.
Fully Synthetic Oils are much more expensive than Semi Synthetic Oils because they don’t have a mixture of synthetic and mineral oil. Most engines these days can support both, but your owners manual will advise on the best oil to use for your engine.Semi synthetic oils are cheaper than fully synthetic as they are a mixture of synthetic and mineral oil. HOwever it is always best to use fully synthetic as it increases protection and performance.
